How much should I spend on an eFoil?

You can expect to spend anywhere from $6,995 to $15,000 on a quality eFoil. Cheaper eFoils are available, but you have to be careful. Regardless of your budget, opting for a reputable brand is the safest bet. Consider this as an investment. Saving a thousand dollars on an eFoil that lasts half as long or consistently breaks will cost you more in the long run. Reputable eFoil brands like Fliteboard offer various products or constructions to meet most budgets. You can confidently decide what features meet your needs and if the additional cost is worth it.

They have several eFoils with different constructions, battery options, and propulsion systems. For example, you can save a lot by electing a fiberglass eFoil board over a carbon board. The Fliteboard AIR is an inflatable eFoil with a solid foam core. A construction like this is fantastic for new eFoilers and reduces costs significantly.

The eFoil battery can significantly impact the price. Fliteboard has a few different types of batteries, including the Flitecell eFoil batteries. These batteries vary in cost, weight, and run time. You can choose a battery that meets your ride time, weight, and budget requirements.

Who is using the eFoil?

Whether you’re looking for a fun family activity or a hobby, there’s an eFoil. Consider the weight and skill level of the users. Larger, forgiving eFoils are ideal for families or multiple users.

If you are the only person using it, a smaller, more advanced model might be a better fit. They are more maneuverable and have less swing weight, which allows for sharper turns and more aggressive riding. For instance, a small 67L board might require a longer learning curve, but it’s an excellent choice for those who want a thrilling challenge and excitement for years to come.

In the Fliteboard range, the 100L Fliteboard in soft-top construction is fantastic for sharing with the family. A 110L board will be easy to use for riders of most weights. The soft top will provide extra grip when learning and is gentle for falls.

If you are on a budget or have many heavy riders using the eFoil, aim for something like the Fliteboard AIR with 110L or a Flitescooter with 237L. High-volume boards with a larger volume of water displacement provide more buoyancy for heavy riders and beginners.

Should I take an eFoil lesson or a test ride?

eFoil lessons are the best way to get into the sport. Your instructor will have a wealth of knowledge and can get you going quickly. You will get a feel for how an eFoil works, a frame of reference, and the chance to ask your instructor gear questions.

We offer eFoil demos and lessons on the Emerald Coast near our location in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. You can choose from the range of Fliteboard eFoils and consult with our expert team on gear specifications and riding tips.

What eFoil construction is best?

Electric hydrofoil boards can be made from many different materials. Choose the cost, weight, and durability that best meets your needs.

Carbon eFoil boards are light, stiff, and responsive. They are damage-resistant, yet repairs are more expensive. A premium construction, carbon eFoil boards like the Fiiteboard PRO offer more than just performance; they make a statement.

Fiberglass boards are popular and a great choice if you are unsure. We call these the 90% board because they are a good fit for 90% of people. They are the standard construction choice for many foil boards and eFoil boards. Other popular constructions include carbon boards, which are light, stiff, and responsive, and soft-top boards with EVA foam, which are popular with the boating crowd.

Soft-top boards with EVA foam are popular with the boating crowd. You don’t have to worry about damaging the board or the boat during transportation. This construction is forgiving to beginners and great for sharing. The Fliteboard has the option of a soft-top construction with a fiberglass core. You get all the benefits of a fiberglass performance with extra padding and no additional weight.

Inflatable eFoils like the Fliteboard AIR are not just fun but durable and high-performance. Despite their inflatable nature, these eFoils have a solid foam core that provides the rigidity and response needed to control the electric hydrofoil wing underwater. This technology has been developed for over a decade, ensuring you get a reliable and high-performing eFoil. So, you can rest assured that you’re making a smart choice with an inflatable eFoil.

Where can I store my eFoil?

Proper storage is essential. One consideration is where to keep your eFoil in the off-season or between rides. You need to store your eFoil in a dry, climate-controlled space.

The ideal temperature is between 50ºF and 77ºF. Do not store eFoil batterers at full charge or empty. You should never leave them inside a vehicle on hot days. You want to keep your equipment out of the sun, so avoid places like a porch with lots of light and extreme temperatures.

A dry basement, climate-controlled garage, or storeroom is best. If space is limited, some eFoil diehards will use them as a conversation piece in their living room.

Some people prefer to store their eFoil off-site. We offer eFoil storage, preparation, and delivery services at our Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, location.
