When it comes to high performance, most eFoilers get picky. If you dream of foiling waves, riding fast, and getting an adrenaline rush, you’re a good candidate for the Ultra L2. At home in the waves, this is the choice eFoil for high-level riders looking to push the limits of themselves and their equipment.
If you’re a prone foiler looking for an eFoil that delivers the stoke of a regular surf foil, the Ultra L2 is your answer. With its hydrodynamic design, fast take-offs, and precise turns, this board is a wave shredder. The low swing weight and perfect outline make it ideal for pumping, gliding, wake surfing, and any other challenge you throw at it. The balanced weight of the battery over the mast ensures a ride that will make you question if you’re on a prone foil or an eFoil.
Am I ready for the Ultra L2?
There are two kinds of eFoilers: casual weekend warriors and dedicated foil frothers. The Ultra L2, at 49 liters, is not beginner-friendly. While it’s possible to learn on this board, it requires an investment in lessons and dedicated practice. We recommend starting with a couple of eFoil lessons to build the fundamental skills, then deciding if you’re ready for the Ultra L2 or if you’d prefer a more forgiving option like the Fliteboard PRO.
MN Carbon 82 mast Vs. MN Carbon Wave 82.
MN Carbon 82 cm: The ultimate in performance with some serious features. You can swap between the prop or the MN Jet Propulsion systems and use the low-drag conical wings. This is the stiffest mast available, meaning the most responsive. At 82 cm, you can carve the razor-sharp turns with maximum response from your wings. Consider this if you plan on making eFoil a way of life.
MN Carbon Wave 82: This is it if you want the closest mast to a non-electric hydrofoil. The wave is the most streamlined low-drag eFoil mast available. If you dream of dropping in on waves, poaching wake, and carving soulful unpowered turns, this should be your mast and eFoil system.
Why does the Ultra L2 use a Folding Pro?
Designed to feel like a prone foil, the Ultra L2 should be paired with a folding prop to further reduce drag. Power when you need it and hydrodynamic when you don’t, this is the only prop recommended.
Which wing set should I choose for my Ultra L2?
If you use a high-performance eFoil, your wings must meet the same standard. Think wave-specific, high-aspect, fast, precise, and exciting. At this level, most riders know exactly what they want. That said, every wing set in the lineup has its own flavor, so we’ll break down what you can expect from each offering.
We recommend basing your wing picks on your level and the conditions in which you will be riding the most. For example, new eFoil wave riders should choose something in the 1100 to 1300 range to practice in smaller waves. Some surf wings perform well at slower speeds, allowing you to progress your skills comfortably. If you want to get into bigger and steeper waves, something in the 900 to 850 range will do the trick, but don’t start there.
Wing sets to pair with the Ultra L2.
Flow 1100 C: The perfect wave-riding machine. This is what we start most riders out with. 1100 is a fun all-around size that won’t be too challenging and will let you get into a wide range of waves or wakes without compromising performance. You’ll love this wing’s sharper arching turns, reduced drag, higher speeds, and playful floaty feel. Loose, flowing, and playful, this wing set should be a part of every advanced eFoilers quiver.
Flow S 1100 C: Like the Flow 1100, but with a snappy feel and the ability to ride slower. This is a good choice if you want to ride mushy waves that never fully break. Many local breaks get a big, slow swell that goes on for ages that would be impossible to ride with a surfboard. Imagine using the motor to glide out and catch one of these. With the Flow S 1100 C, you can disengage the motor and carve up and down the face with ease and at a comfortable speed.
Wave 1100 C: As the name implies, this is an all-around wave wing. Use it as your one-stop hydrofoil surf wing in various conditions.
Mn 1300 C: A 1300 wing will take flight at a slower speed, but this foil is nimble with an exceptional glide. This high-aspect option is perfect for riders who want longer glides that transition into fast turns. Imagine riding some wake, arms behind your back, cruising with minimal effort, and then springing into action, carving some stylish turns.
Flow S 1300 C: Like its 1100 counterpart, this wing will make quick work of slow waves. Ride slower when you want and take sharp turns on the wave. If you have smaller waves or a wake lacking power, the 1300 is an excellent tool to make suboptimal conditions exciting again.
FLOW 900 C: If you’re riding steeper waves, going fast, and pushing it in real swell, this will be an important tool in your wing quiver.
Wave 850 C: Reserved for lighter riders or the steepest waves. The 850 is fast, agile, and something you can use comfortably with a lot of power. Advanced wave riders love this size for its quick turns and ability to handle the higher speeds you will encounter on big waves.
What eFoil battery should I choose for my Ultra L2?
Flitecell Nano: At 13.7 lbs, this is the lightest battery in the Fliteboard lineup. You can expect an average of 45 minutes of ride time. It is ideal for riders who prioritize maneuverability and want a lighter board. We recommend the Nano for Ultra L2 riders who wish their eFoil to feel more like a prone foil. With the weight balanced over the mast, this will be a light, powerful combination.
Flitecell Sport: This eFoil battery weighs 23.4 lbs and provides up to 1.5 hours of ride time. It balances weight and battery life, offering enough power for a 90-minute ride while remaining relatively lightweight. Choose this if weight is not a consideration and you want longer sessions in the waves.
