Fliteboard AIR PRO

By hdavidson posted on December 23, 2023

The Fliteboard AIR PRO stands out in the Flite range with its unique features. It’s a forgiving eFoil board designed for riders seeking a durable, stress-free eFoil that is easier to transport or store.

Like the Flite AIR, the outer inflatable layer is durable, forgiving on the body, and gentle on your boat or home, yet deceptively rigid and responsive—the perfect choice for riders who want a low-maintenance eFoil. If you want something you can leave on the asphalt or not worry about the kids dropping on the dock, this is a good choice, especially for the price.

We prefer the AIR PRO over the air for the reduced drag. If you’re looking for high performance, consider a Fliteboard or Fliteboard PRO.

Flite AIR PRO Vs. Fliteboard PRO.

AIR PRO: Best for people who want a smaller low maintenance eFoil. Drop it on the dock, leave it on concrete, toss it in the back of a truck. The inflatable construction doesn’t require the same level of care as a traditional construction. If you’re a weekend warrior or looking for something for the family, this is a great choice. If you’re interested in performance, consider a Fliteboard or Fliteboard PRO.

Fliteboard PRO: The lower volume and swing weight mean the Fliteboard PRO will have less weight for better pumping, sharper turns, and faster response to rider input. The three construction options all have less drag and better response, and the board is a massive performance upgrade. If you want durable performance, consider the soft top. The base is fiberglass to eliminate drag, but the body is protected by an EVA foam layer.

There is a J curve when learning. You can start on something easy like the Fliteboard, but with a few lessons and extra time, you might consider the PRO. If you’re willing to put in the work, it’s smart to skip the beginner board and go right to a PRO. If you’re looking for easy, stick to the 100 L.

75cm Mast Vs. Performance 80cm Mast

75cm Mast: A common pairing for the Flite AIR PRO. The height is forgiving and easy to learn, especially with shorter falls when taking your first flight. You’ll have access to a wide variety of wings and their corresponding sizes. Feel free to call us to discuss the best mast and wing option. If cost is a consideration, this is a good price point option to pair with the AIR PRO.

80cm Mast: The extra height allows for sharper turns and more aggressive carves.

Performance 80cm Mast: All the benefits of the 80 but more hydrodynamic. With the conical interface, you can access the higher-performance conical wings. The main advantage is less drag, meaning you’ll have a smoother ride, smoother turns, and more efficient wings. Consider this if you plan on upgrading your board in the future to something more performance-minded like the Fliteboard PRO.

Which Propulsion System? Prop & Guard Vs. Flite Jet.

The Prop: This will have more initial thrust, power, and speed. It has an optional guard for safety. You can remove the guard to reduce drag and increase the performance of your eFoil system.

Flite Jet: The epitome of safety, it’s the perfect choice for beginners or lighter riders. With no moving external parts, you can expect a more forgiving thrust and slightly slower speeds, making it the ideal hydrofoil for learning how to eFoil. This is a good pairing for families using the AIR PRO who want something user-friendly.

Folding Prop: This is best for riders who want to experience unpowered riding with their eFoil. It is the perfect choice for surfing waves or riding wake on the lake. It is possible to ride waves with an AIR PRO, but we find the Fliteboard PRO and the Ultra L2 are better suited to the task. You’ll appreciate the added comfort of the inflatable for falls, but there is added drag when the board touches down.

Hydrofoils are incredibly efficient at riding small, non-breaking waves. Imagine using the motor to power into a small rolling swell and shutting the power off to ride the wave. The benefit of the folding prop is you’ll have less drag and a true hydrofoil surf experience with better turns, pumping, and gliding when unpowered.

Which Wing Set Should I Choose for my AIR PRO?

Choose the wing set that matches how you want to ride. Beginners should always choose an easy-to-use wing set. We like the Cruiser 1100 as a fun all-around wing set, but you might consider something bigger if this is a board you’ll only use once a month.

The Fliteboard wing sets are designed for compatibility, offering versatility to riders. You’re not locked into one set, and we recommend adding a second set for different riders or applications. For instance, you can choose a beginner wing for initial learning and a more exciting wing for later. This way, you’ll always have the beginner wing for sharing or leisurely cruising.

Wing Sets to Pair with the 75cm or 80cm eFoil Unit.

Emerald Wake Pick.

Cruiser 1100: Think of this as a daily driver wing. We teach with this wing and recommend most start with it. There will be more of a learning curve of about 30 minutes, but it’s well worth the invested time.

Once you’re up and foiling, you’ll love this wing’s sharper turns, reduced drag, higher speeds, and more playful floaty feel.  Many people order the 1800 for learning, teaching friends, entertaining guests, and the family in general.

Cruiser 1800: The most accessible, most forgiving hydrofoil wing you can choose. You can expect a stable platform and take-offs at a slower speed. An 1800 wing is an excellent choice for eFoilers above 220 pounds. Most will outgrow this wing fast, so consider something smaller if you want a more maneuverable wing.

Cruiser Jet 1500:  This foil is paired with the Flite Jet. 1500 is a perfect beginner wing size for everyone. You can expect slow take-off speeds, stability, and a forgiving, balanced feel.

Flow S 1300: This is an excellent add-on wing if you want something that can ride waves. True to its name, the wingspan on this hydrofoil allows for wide arching turns and a soulful feel on any size wave.

Flow 1100: The flow series is known for its glide. If you dream of long, unpowered gliding, soulful turns yet want something more maneuverable than 1300 to play harder in the waves; the Flow 1100 is the perfect addition to your wing quiver.

Flyer 800: Think speed, sharp turns, and adrenaline. 800 is the choice for advanced eFoilers who want to shred fast and hard. Consider adding this to grow into or challenge yourself as you progress on your eFoil journey.

Wing Sets for the Performance 80cm eFoil Unit.

These wings are a step up in performance. Consider these if you plan on upgrading your board. Sometimes, our customers order two boards and one eFoil unit. For example, you might have the Flite AIR PRO for the kids and a Fliteboard PRO for yourself. You can easily get two foil sets or share to save on cost. That is, as long as you don’t mind taking turns.

Cruiser Jet 1500 C: Choose the wing set that is the choice for families and new riders alike. You can expect a stable, forgiving ride and smoother thrust thanks to the conical shape and effortless performance of the Flite Jet. The Flite Jet feels more powerful when paired with the conical wing sets.

MN 1300 C: The best all-around size for ease of use and performance. 1300 is a forgiving-size wing for learning to eFoil, but you can maneuver it faster. Choose this if you want a forgiving yet exciting wing set. The MN wings are a work of art. Think, low drag, exciting turns, exceptional glide, and an all-around nimble feel.

FLOW 1300 C: A lower-aspect wing built for riding waves. You can expect a looser feeling wing and rider at slower speeds compared to the MN 1300. The Flow wings have a wide arching turn and incredible glide.

Flow 1100 C: Think loose, playful, and dynamic. This forgiving medium-sized wing is large enough to surf waves or wake yet small enough to ride with style. Flowing and playful, this wing set should be a part of every advanced eFoilers quiver.

What eFoil Battery Should I Choose for my Flite AIR PRO?

Flitecell Nano: At 13.7 lbs, this is the lightest battery in the Fliteboard lineup. You can expect an average of 45 minutes of ride time. It is ideal for riders who prioritize maneuverability and want a lighter board. This is especially useful for small riders who might struggle to carry a heavier battery.

The shorter battery life may require more frequent recharging, which can be mitigated by using Fliteboard’s faster charging option.

Flitecell Sport: Weighing 23.4 lbs, this eFoil battery provides up to 1.5 hours of ride time and has a balance between weight and battery life. Offering enough power for up to a 90-minute ride while still relatively lightweight. Choose this if weight is not a consideration for you and your family.
